THE POWER OF CONNECTION
About Us
IYL Foundation is an American non-profit devoted to helping people in need in South Africa. We currently support three remarkable South African non- profits with financial assistance and the expertise and engagement of our board members.
PARTNERS
Organizations We Support
IYL formed in 2000 to enable college age South Africans with limited resources to come to the United States to engage with American people and institutions via visits to historical, cultural and educational venues. The two week journeys usually began in Washington DC and wound up in New York City.
IYL adopted its new strategy of helping South Africans by supporting South African non-profits in the aftermath of the onset of Covid.
Anzisha Prize
This is a partnership of African Leadership Academy and Mastercard Foundation to help create and support 14 to 24 year old entrepreneurs throughout Africa who build businesses that can hire young people who desperately need employment. IYL’s work with Anzisha focuses on South Africa.
Lifa lesive
In partnership with Freedom House South Africa, IYL is helping impoverished people in rural Msogwaba secure rights to health care and other services not currently available to them but mandated by the South African constitution.
Ubuntu Pathways
IYL is focusing on serving the considerable needs of the overworked and overstressed staff members of this integrated provider of health, education and social support services in the poverty stricken township of Gqaberha (Port Elizabeth) South Africa.
